Geoff's Meadow

Description

Court House and the old farm has been occupied for more that 4500 years. It was a place chosen by the beaker people who lived there at the same time as they were building Stonehenge. There is a Bronze Age Burial site on the land. The old Court House is 400 years old and grade 2 star listed and it is said to have replaced an older Court or Manor house.

Geoff Kemp died from a cancer related illness in February 2017. His lifelong partner, with the support of Geoff's family and friends, decided that he would like others to enjoy the beautiful gardens and farmland around the house that they shared and loved for many years. The two acre field, to the west of Court House, is now known as 'Geoff's Meadow' where many trees and wild flowers have been planted in memory of loved ones. It is a place of peace and quiet where those who need a little solitude can go and rest a while.

Court House is now the home of the Geranium Trust, welcoming several thousands of friends to come for weekly tea parties, luncheons and Sunday Roast Dinners. It is open every day of the year and welcomes anyone who needs a friend. If they need a quiet time alone they go into Geoff’s Meadow. It’s a very special place loved by locals and many visitors from far and wide. In summer there are many wild flowers, flowering trees, butterflies and birds. "We have around 20 to 30 visitors each day, many come every day to sit quietly. Some come to cry. If we see someone who needs a friend we will make them a tray of tea, or a mug of coffee."

Geoff’s Meadow is open at all times, but it is preferable if guests come between the hours of 9 am to 8 pm in the summer months and 9 am until 4 pm in the winter
