The Little Chapel, Rodborough

Description

The Little Chapel is a place of tranquility and prayer - a retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

100 years old this year, a converted coach house designed and supervised by the Arts and Crafts movement, and craftsmen created green pendant lights (Alfred Bucknell), furniture and fittings (Peter van der Waals), three stained glass windows - Nativity (Henry Payne), after Holman Hunt's 'Light of the World' (Edward Payne) and Jesus the Good Shepherd (Whitefriars).

The chapel is open Tuesday mornings 10.30-12.30 pm; there is a monthly short evening service of quiet and reflection, weddings, poetry events and other one-off events. It is part of Inclusive Church.

By public transport: Bus or train to Stroud, walk up Rodborough Hill
On foot: past Prince Albert, left, up hill over cattle grid, take first right into Tabernacle Walk

Facilities

There is a ramp available to enter the back area, one step down to the rest of the church, steps up to back vestry but flat entrance accessible from the outside. Toilet in church buildings opposite. There is a bench outside, graveyard and trees, and from the car park the River Severn is visible.
There are tea/coffee making facilities in the back vestry room.
It could be hired out for quiet days.
