St. James, Kings Nympton

Return to Homepage ->

This is a fine ancient parish church in the Perpendicular style, being of some 14th but mostly 15th century architecture. Its origins are that of a late Saxon minster of which only the windowless north wall remains. It has a beautiful rood screen and an unusual painted ceiling. The bell tower has a steeple added in Victorian times. The North transept has a quiet area for prayer and contemplation. Kings Nympton is a pretty village on a hill facing Dartmoor to the South, set among rolling hills and farms.

The church is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day, and there are morning services every Sunday.
