St. Mary, East Worlington, Crediton
Description
Nestled between, and just behind, the parish hall and local primary school, St Mary’s East Worlington dates from the 12th Century. Although Grade II listed, most of the church you see today was rebuilt in around 1869. Traces of its ancient past, though, can still be seen in the Norman arch over the main door and the Norman window in the chancel. The simple interior encourages the visitor to sit and to rest awhile.
In spring the churchyard is awash with crocuses, steadily making their own pilgrimage from the former rectory next door. An extension to the churchyard contains a small labyrinth.
Standard opening times and any special arrangements (including occasional prayers or service times):
The church is open at all times. Services are held on the first and third Sundays.
