Description

A 12th century Grade II* church which looks out over Otmoor. It is designated as a Pilgrimage Church within the Ray Valley Benefice as part of a local initiative to develop pilgrim routes between churches in the area. The church has an air of tranquility and spirituality as a setting for prayer and meditation and aims to provide a welcome to all pilgrims visiting the church (which includes many from New Zealand who make the pilgrimage to Oddington to pay homage at the grave of Maggie Papakura, beloved Maori Princess, and the memorial to Maoris killed in the First World War). The church offers to pray for anyone undertaking a pilgrimage and to give advice to those considering embarking on pilgrimages in this country and overseas, and intend to hold special services with a pilgrimage theme. Within the church a window has been dedicated to pilgrims. The stained glass includes a picture of St. James, with a scallop shell on his shoulder.

Standard opening times – open during daylight hours throughout the week.
