Description

Holy Trinity church is quite large for a village church. Built in 1844 in a Romanesque style, it is also quite unusual. There is a most beautiful chancel including a reredos of the crucifixion with four female disciples at the foot of the cross. There are individual niches with the apostles depicted in them.

It has been noted by many people that there is a real sense of peace in the church. There is now have a quiet prayer area in the South Transept - a space for quiet prayer and contemplation.

The church is open every day from around 10 am to 5 pm depending on the seasons.

By public transport (rail/bus): Dilton Marsh Railway Station lies about 400m east along the High Street. Bus services from Westbury and Frome stop on the High Street nearby.

Facilities

Holy Trinity has pathway access from the High Street (slight incline) and is wheelchair friendly. Within the church there is also easy access for wheelchairs or Motability scooters. Access to the chancel is by three steps and at present is not accessible by wheelchairs, however, it is possible to see the chancel from the crossing point.

A toilet with disabled features is available on site. This is a large space where wheelchairs can easily enter and turn around. There are also baby changing facilities in the toilet.

Our churchyard has a path from the road to the main entrance. There is also a path going down to the East gate which gives a reasonable view of a large part of the churchyard. We are an ecofriendly church and have some rare orchids onsite.

There are facilities for making a drink within our servery area. There is a pub at the end of the High Street called the Weavers which do light refreshments and meals. (times vary)
There are some Air B & B properties within the village.

The church could be suitable for quiet days for individuals or groups by arrangement.
